Jacksonville Jaguars make critical NFL Draft error

No team is made fun of, or thought less of than the Jacksonville Jaguars. It’s a constant struggle to sell out games, draw attention and actually be relevant.

The 2014 NFL Draft offered a chance for the Jaguars to once again become a well-known team. Much like they were when they first burst onto the scene and into a rivalry with the Tennessee Titans. Instead, the Jacksonville Jaguars will continue to be the team everyone believes will move to London or L.A.

The opportunity to draft a player with the hype Johnny Manziel has surrounding him comes only once in a decade. Much like the hype that surrounded Tim Tebow, Manziel is a media darling.

The star quarterback made an immediate impact in 2012 playing for Texas A&M. He threw for 3,419 yards and 24 touchdowns while rushing for 1,181 yards and 19 touchdowns. This historic season turned Manziel into the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy in history.

Not only have his stats proven his ability, but he is entertaining to watch. Arguably one of the most entertaining players in all of the NFL and he hasn’t even played a game yet!

Owners want to put people in the seats, win or lose. The bump in ticket and merchandise revenue is well worth the selection.

The NFL Draft is hit or miss. Why not roll the dice on something you know is going to at least improve the financial aspect of your team?
