As the rose draped, golden casket of Michael Jackson entered the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the Associated Press flash wired the identical story over 16 times. The amount of writing produced from the death of the King of Pop has inundated the Internet.Large social networks like MySpace and Twitter have been slowing to the point of a crawl, reportedly even crashing, ‘grinding to a halt’.

The memorial service has been rich fodder for not only journalists, writers and paparazzi, but also for all the ‘would be’ entrepreneurs. From Twittering to blogging, currently Michael Jackson has been on the Twitter top ten list, iTunes top 100 and also Amazon’s bestsellers. With the memorial set to have started at 10 AM Eastern time, but being delayed until 10:30 AM Eastern time, the amount of writing will be substantial, to say the least.Whether professional or amateur, some just can’t get enough of talking about not only his life, his money, his children, his fans, but also the amount of cash outlay the city of Los Angeles will be responsible for to hold the memorial service. With Fox News broadcasting from within the Staples Center, reporting the amount of ‘talk’ online of the issue, but now the City of Los Angeles offering a donation link on their website.

As Smoky Robinson takes the stage to read the condolences of Diana Ross and Nelson Mandela, a silence falls over the crowd. The news media reporting the lack of program line up, not knowing what will be expected at the memorial. This being a stark contrast from any of Michael Jackson’s previous events. As the day progresses and the memorial commences there will be many words written and many will feel compelled to tell their opinion, what they feel and what is seen.

Fans outside the Staples Center sign the large billboards provided, writing wishes and thoughts to show respect for the singer.

Austinites also pay tribute to the late singer, Sixth Street resonated with the sounds and songs of Michael Jackson.  Alamo Drafthouse pays tribute as well with three opportunities.
