Jackson, MS is surely becoming an essential stop for spoken word artists that are touring the southern region of the nation. Tomorrow night, the City With Soul will welcome none other than Salaam Shaheed, co-founder of Black-on-Black Rhyme.


Founded in 1998, Black On Black Rhyme consists of over 35 dynamic poets, lyricists, songwriters, DJs and artists. It is a unique community organization that promotes welfare, education, physical health and mental wellness among the Afrikan community.


Salaam Shaheed has a voice that has captivated audiences for more than a decade. Though smooth and sometimes sultry it possesses a sense of urgency that keeps you wondering what this Florida native revolutionary will say next.

Come check out Salaam's feature performance at Cultural Expressions this Sunday, February 7, 2010. Doors open at 8pm. $5 to sit $3 to showcase your talent during the Open Mic set. The Super Bowl will be over in time for the show so no excuses!
