Tulsa senior football players Derrick Jackson and Dexter McCoil will get to play one more game at the college level when the defensive players suit up for the Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game Friday.
The game, scheduled to take place at Kino Stadium in Tucson, Ariz., begins at 9 p.m. Central Standard Time and 8 p.m. Mountain and will be telecasted on ESPN family networks including ESPN3 and WatchESPN.com.
Both players, who impacted Tulsa’s 31-17 win against Iowa State in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl, will be playing for the East team.
Jackson, (6-2, 294 pounds, defensive tackle) earned honorable mention all-Conference USA honors in the 2012 season after making 41 tackles, 23 solo, and eight sacks for minus-41 yards. He had a season-best four stops in four games, including the Liberty Bowl. Two of his four stops were solos. He also had one sack for minus-5 yards. Jackson finished his career with 90 tackles and 15.5 tackles for losses for minus-57 yards.
McCoil (6-4, 222, safety) was a 2012 Conference USA first team selection, totaling 91 tackles, including 59 solos. He also had five interceptions, finishing his career with a school record 18 picks and tying the Conference USA all-time record. He also finished with 316 career tackles and 25 pass break-ups.
