Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) in the Tetons of Wyoming got blasted by winter last week—five feet of new snow fell over a six-day period, generating multiple powder days in a row on the ski area known for its big-mountain terrain.

Another foot of snow could fall on the upper mountain by Friday morning this week. Ski conditions at Jackson are currently some of the best in the U.S., so powder chasers should head there now if they have the means.
On powder mornings, skiers and boarders start arriving by 7 a.m. or earlier to ensure a spot on "first box" and get a peak-to-base descent—over 4,000 vertical feet of skiing.
The terrain at JHMR is a technical skier's dream, so much that action ski filmmaker Teton Gravity Research, based in Teton Village, often includes footage filmed there in its movies.
JHMR also hosts big-mountain camps including Teton Gravity Research's Fall Line Camp.
Last season, JHMR opened with "wall-to-wall" skiing with mid-season conditions (130 inches of snowfall by opening); the resort closed in April with 558 inches of snowfall recorded, the second highest total in the resort's history.
