Jackpot for Mega Millions rises to $550 million after no one has winning numbers

Friday night, the Mega Millions numbers were chosen and no one won the big prize, so now it will jump to an estimated $550 million for Tuesday night, Dec. 17, 2013 and will become the second-largest Mega Millions prize ever. This Mega Millions jackpot has been growing since October 1 without a winner of the big prize, according to MSN. The winning numbers for Friday night’s drawing were: 19, 24, 26, 27, 70, plus the Mega Ball number 12.

Friday Mega Millions ticket sales rose quickly as people around the country tried to buy their tickets at the last minute. It was estimated to be a $400 million jackpot, but quickly rose to $425 million.

The largest ever Mega Millions jackpot was $656 million jackpot in March 2012.

The Mega Millions lottery is played in 43 states, in Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Every Tuesday and Friday night the Mega Millions drawings are held at 11 p.m.
