Cody Bostick, his pregnant wife Colby, and son Easton were traveling interstate 35 near Webster City, Iowa when they wrecked. The young Clear Lake, Iowa family was involved in a massive 30 vehicle pile-up in a snowstorm.
The Bostick's vehicle was hit by one truck, then slid under a tractor trailer. Colby Duckett Bostick suffered fatal injuries in the accident. The 27 year old woman was pregnant with twins at the time. Cody and 1 year old Easton were not injured in the crash.
Their dog, Jackie, who was in the vehicle with them was nowhere to be found after the crash. "We just didn't see her after the first truck hit us," said Cody.
Cody was heartbroken at the loss of his wife, but worried about the little dog lost out in the cold. He also thought that it would help if young Easton could have his pet back in his life. "Obviously we can't have Colby back but having Jackie there, would just have a little sense of normalcy with Easton...", said Cody.
On Thursday it was confirmed that Jackie had been found. Almost Home, The Humane Society of North Central Iowa had been working with the Bostick family to help find the dog. The good news came more than 10 days after the accident.
Staff at the Ft. Dodge shelter received a phone call from someone who said they had picked up a dog matching Jackie's description on I-35, just outside of Ames, The woman told workers she was driving on I-35 in Story County on Christmas Eve when she found a dog and took it back to her home in Minnesota.
The Bostick family is grateful to the person who picked up Jackie and kept her safe. They also expressed thanks to the organizations and individuals who helped search for her.
