Greetings from Munich! I’m currently on vacation in beautiful Bavaria and while we’re thoroughly enjoying the sights, food, culture, shopping, schnitzel, sausage and beer gardens, the weather has refused to cooperate – it’s gray, chilly and rainy - but all this rain makes for a lovely, green environment. Wearing a raincoat, splashing through puddles and carrying an umbrella reminds me just how fortunate we are to call the South Bay home!

The Redondo Union High School Band and Dance Guard present the Spring Concert Series - Jazz under the Stars on May 30 at 6 p.m. This free community event will take place on the lawn of the RUHS auditorium. Join the RUHS Band Boosters, Band Director Raymundo Vizcarro and Dance Guard Advisor Sarah Slemmons for an evening of live entertainment the whole family will enjoy. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase and lawn chairs and picnic baskets are permitted for the outdoor event. Redondo Union High School is located at 631 Vincent Park in Redondo Beach. The Manhattan Beach Classic Car Club presents the first annual Manhattan Beach Concours d’Elegance on Saturday, May 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mira Costa High School. The event will feature forty show quality automobiles from different eras with proceeds benefitting the Mira Costa High School Classic Car Club and the Da Vinci School Classic Car Club. This is the only premiere car show in Manhattan Beach showcasing some of the most prized collector cars from the Los Angeles area. A Grammy-winning jazz band will provide live musical entertainment for attendee’s listening pleasure. Food and refreshments will be available on site from several high quality food trucks. R/10 Social House presents Boxcar: A Pop-Up Restaurant event taking place Sunday, June 1. Join the Beach Cities Health District for their continuing free fitness series, Zumba in the Park, every Monday evening from June 2 through July 28. The weekly event will take place at Julia Field in Alta Vista Park through June 30 and will continue at Jefferson Elementary through July 28. Get moving and de-stress with this free, public event that brings together the community, fitness and fun! Everyone is welcome to participate at their own pace. Registration starts at 6 p.m. with the hour long Zumba class beginning at 6:30. All participants must sign a waiver.
