Happy first day of Spring! Thinking of Spring, my thoughts turn to food…..all those wonderful greens, asparagus, snap peas, strawberries, rhubarb, new potatoes and of course, the first and most tender lamb of the year. To celebrate the season, we’re featuring food and wine events taking place over the next few days with prices to fit every budget.

Join the experts at Total Wine & More for a special tasting of the exquisite wines of Washington and Oregon featuring unique finds from the Willamette Valley, Walla Walla and Red Mountain tonight, Thursday, March 20. Guests will be taken on an excursion through the Pacific Northwest from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. while exploring elegant whites and reds from across the region. Featuring sophisticated Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir from the famed Willamette Valley in Oregon and top-notch Merlot, Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon from the appellations of Washington, this is a class wine lovers don’t want to miss. Terranea Resort presents a Spring’s Bounty Dinner, the next event in the Chef’s Cooking Series tonight, Thursday, March 20. The Chef’s Cooking Series at Terranea resumes this month led by Executive Chef Bernard Ibarra with a portion of the event proceeds benefitting the American Red Cross. Guests will experience the seasonally themed menu featuring wine pairings from the celebrated Grgich Hills Estate. The farm-to-table dinner series, complete with views of the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean, features an interactive evening with Terranea’s chefs. Each evening in the bi-monthly series begins with a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception followed by an interactive chef cooking demonstration and a three-course dinner with wine pairings. Guests will receive recipe cards and special gift items to recreate the experience at home. For each dinner event, Terranea will partner with a different non-profit organization. Join the South Bay Business Women Association and South Bay Women’s Conference for a Let’s Connect Mixer on Tuesday, March 25. After two highly successful mixers, the next networking event will be held at Buffalo Fire Department from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The evening includes hors d’oeuvres, no-host bar and an opportunity to learn more about the upcoming South Bay Women’s Conference, Live! Laugh! Learn! Guests will receive updates on the conference and formally announce the keynote speaker, Marianne Williamson. Meet like-minded women and men whose mission is to give back to their community while making lasting connections. Proceeds from this event go directly to the scholarship fund. Dominique’s Kitchen has scheduled a special Coq Au Vin Dinner for Tuesday, March 25. Once again, Dominique and his team will offer South Bay diners an expertly prepared, authentic, French meal between 7:30 and 9 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7:30 but guests are encouraged to arrive early (say, 7:00ish) and enjoy a complimentary glass of Prosecco. The three course prix fixe meal is $39.99 per person, exclusive of tax and gratuity.

Now, this is the last week to enter the raffle for a $50 Gift Certificate to Dominique’s Kitchen! A little over a year ago, Dominique’s Kitchen opened their doors and quickly became a favorite of discerning South Bay diners. In addition to the regular menu, nightly specials and ‘Best of” happy hour (Monday only!), Dominique and his team offer the occasional prix fixe supper. The aforementioned Coq Au Vin Dinner is scheduled for March 25, which may be sold out, but you can still make reservations for the Winemaker Dinner featuring Summerland Winery on April 22.
