We’ve had a pretty exciting couple of weeks here in the South Bay and it was topped off yesterday with an incredible hometown parade for our hyper-local champions, the LA Kings. Can anyone think of another national, professional sports team that has a parade just for their specific neighborhood? Seriously, how cool is that?!?

Trina Turk in Manhattan Beach presents Nuit Blanche - an evening of shopping, wine and gourmet bites on Thursday, June 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. Guests will enjoy music, food from Chef David LeFevre of Fishing with Dynamite and MB Post, wine, shopping and the chance to win a $200 Trina Turk gift card. A portion of sales from the event will be donated to Walk with Sally. The Redondo Pier Association hosts Movies on the Boardwalk at the Redondo Beach Pier every Friday in June. Tomorrow night, Friday, June 20, they’re screening American Graffiti. These events are free and open to the public and take place between 7 and 10 p.m. Attendees may bring low-back beach chairs. Join Friends of Redondo Beach Arts and Redondo Beach Art Group for the third annual CA 101 Art Exhibit. The Opening Reception takes place Friday, June 20 from 5 to 9 p.m. and is open to the public. The exhibit will be on display for two weeks from Saturday, June 21 through Sunday, June 29. This year’s CA 101 Art Exhibit will climax with the Summer Solstice at the water’s edge at the Redondo Beach Pier. The exhibit will occupy several buildings of the upper pier business office campus (above the parking structure) for a multi-gallery and outdoor installations event. Curated by Nina Zak Laddon with exhibition director Sandra Liljenwall, the juried show features hundreds of works in various mediums and is an open invitation to artist’s expressions of life today in California. I M Dance Happy Studios is teaming up with Switzer Learning Center to present a South Bay Latin and Swing Dance Party and Boot Camp on Saturday, June 21. During the bootcamps, attendees will learn the Bachata with professional dance instructors, Arden & Ericka. Tickets for the bootcamps are $15 each, 2 for $25 or all 3 for $30. Isaiah Meders from I M Dance Happy Studios will give a free dance class at 8 p.m. with the Social Dance Party starting at 9 p.m. Admission is $15 per person. An all-day pass for all 3 bootcamps and the social dance can be purchased for $40. Beer, wine and appetizers will be available for purchase at the Dance Social. Back by popular demand, 608 North presents Another Summer with the Ladies art exhibition. The Opening Reception takes place Saturday, June 21 from 7:30 to 10 p.m. with the pieces on display through Saturday, July 19. Last year’s very successful exhibition showcased only eight artists. This year, the show will feature the art of more than 25 talented female artists with over 100 pieces of two and three dimensional works in various mediums on display in all three galleries. Cancer Support Community of Redondo Beach invites everyone to celebrate wellness at the Food & Wine Tasting Event in the Garden on Sunday, June 22 from 3 to 7 p.m. The event will take place at the South Coast Botanic Garden and will benefit Cancer Support Community Redondo Beach’s free programs for cancer patients and their loved ones. Attendees will have the opportunity to taste exquisite wines from notable vintners and enjoy other specialty beverages. As you stroll and mingle, be entertained by music and bid on fabulous treasures in the silent and live auctions, including exciting trips! The City of Manhattan Beach presents the annual Concerts in the Park series kicking off Sunday, June 22. The series is a summer-long event held at Polliwog Park and takes place every Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. Musical offerings will include Dixieland, Country Western, Alternative Rock, Surf music, Woodstock, Beatles, Elvis & Neil Diamond tributes and Salsa/Latin among others. These performances are free to the public. There are no dogs, barbecues or wheeled vehicles allowed at any time in the concert area. Umbrellas and pop-up tents may be set up before and after the concert but once the concert begins, you will be required to take them down. Chez Melange and Bouzy Gastropub present a Curry & Beer Dinner on Monday, June 23. This celebration of the South Bay brew scene begins at 6:30 and features five local breweries and their Brewmasters!
