There’s no shortage of fun activities happening over the next few days. I’ve listed the special events here but there are several ongoing activities taking place as well, so be sure to visit the website.

The LA25 present the third annual ART90266 on Thursday, April 24 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach. Art90266 is a live and silent auction of fine art, photography and mixed media by world-class artists from within and around the South Bay. The auction raises money and awareness for the arts and education within the South Bay community. Attendees will enjoy fabulous cocktails and hors de oeuvres and have the opportunity to view live painting demonstrations in the Courtyard and Zinc Lounge. This event is made possible by the generous donations of talent and time by amazing artists and other local businesses. This is the South Bay, so beach chic attire is the only way to go. Tickets are $125 per person and are available through Eventbrite here. This year’s proceeds will go towards sending over 1,400 South Bay students to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Total Wine & More presents Under the Tuscan Sun Wine Class on Thursday, April 24 at the Redondo Beach superstore location. Grab your passport get ready to explore one of the most romantic and famous wine appellations in the world. From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., guests will take a tour through Tuscany, sipping on some of the most famed wines of the region, specifically from the Morellino di Scansano and Brunello di Montalcino regions. The tasting tour will walk guests through a series of eight delicious Italian wines highlighting delectable reds from Tuscany. This delicious and fun wine class is only $20 per person. Our Lady of Guadalupe Church of Hermosa Beach presents La Fiesta 2014! The festivities get underway Friday, April 25 and run through Sunday, April 27. This popular annual event features live music, carnival rides, games, food and fun for the whole family. The Beer Garden offers guests ice cold beer, wine and margaritas. The North Redondo Beach Business Association presents the annual SpringFest Carnival & Community Festival beginning Thursday, April 24 and running through Sunday, April 27. The event features arts & crafts, kid’s zone, food court and gourmet food trucks and of course, carnival rides and games. The carnival takes place at Aviation Park, a 14 acre recreation facility located at the corner of Aviation and Manhattan Beach Boulevards near the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center. Hours are:

Thursday & Friday: 5 to 11 p.m.
Saturday: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Sunday: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce presents the South Bay Business Leaders’ Summit on Friday, April 25. The South Bay Business Leaders’ Summit, formerly the Women in Business Conference, will be completely re-vamped this year to offer attendees a day full of noteworthy speakers and highly informative and relevant breakout sessions. Now open to a broader audience, attendees will have the opportunity to meet and network with business professionals to share ideas, best business practices and advice from some of the most successful professionals in the South Bay and beyond. The Summit will take place on April 25, 2014 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Manhattan Beach Marriott. Join Museum Educator and French Culinary Institute-educated chef Maite Gomez-Rejón for an evening of provocative art, inventive recipes and hands-on culinary technique during the Savoring Silence Cooking Art History Class at El Segundo Museum of Art on Friday, April 25 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Explore the elements of art through looking, cooking and savoring with ArtBites after an informal tour of ESMoA’s current in-gallery Experience 09: SILENCE. Attendees will then work together to prepare and enjoy a seasonal meal inspired by the gallery talk which explores the themes of color, texture, line, space and shape. The Norris Center for the Performing Arts presents the madcap musical comedy, The Drowsy Chaperone, beginning April 25 and running through May 11. Winner of five Tony Awards, the toe-tapping trip back to the golden age of musicals is one of the funniest and most original shows in Broadway history. Featuring music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison and written by Bob Martin and Don McKellar, The Drowsy Chaperone spoofs musical-comedy fanatics as well as the genre itself and the extravagant musicals of the 1920s. Critics have called the show “the perfect Broadway musical.” Performance times for the April 25 – May 11 engagement of The Drowsy Chaperone are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. The 27 annual Richstone Pier-to-Pier Walkathon takes place Saturday, April 26 at the Manhattan Beach Pier. Participants will walk from the Manhattan Beach Pier to the Hermosa Beach Pier and back. Check in begins at 7 a.m. and the event gets underway at 8 a.m. This is a family friendly event and children of all ages are welcome. Dogs are also invited – just be mindful of the general rules regarding pets that are posted at the beach. All proceeds benefit the Richstone Family Center child abuse treatment and prevention programs. Don’t miss this opportunity to take a few steps to help prevent child abuse. Chalk it up on Saturday, April 26 at the fourth annual Earth Day Chalk Art Challenge at the Redondo Marina sponsored by the King Harbor Association beginning at 10 a.m. This free event provides a public space for professional artists, children and festival-goers to make and enjoy chalk art murals. Participants of all levels are invited to create a chalk art drawing to commemorate Earth Day. The first 100 children to sign-up on the day of the event will receive free chalk and a recycled and reusable canvas tote bag that they can custom paint with members of the Redondo Beach Arts Group. All the fun takes place at the Redondo Beach Marina Sea Wall located at 181 North Harbor Drive in Redondo Beach. Join over 7,000 other eco-minded participants for the 26 annual Earth Day Celebration and Concert at Polliwog Park on Saturday, April 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Attendees will enjoy music, games, eco-friendly products and information on the City of Manhattan Beach’s efforts toward making the city a greater and greener place to live, work and play. Two separate stages will feature kid’s entertainment, live music, educational presentations and an awards ceremony. A multi-booth Reuse Drive will accept clean, gently used clothes and prescription glasses, batteries and printer toner cartridges. Join Sandpipers and Honda for the 29 annual For Our Children Food & Wine Festival on Sunday, April 27. Last year, 800 guests feasted on fabulous food specialties, fine wine and tasty beers while raising over $60,000! The event features the best of the South Bay with about one hundred of the finest restaurants, wineries and breweries represented. The fabulous silent and live auctions feature unique gift items and experiences with the proceeds benefitting Sandpipers philanthropic programs and TrinityKids Care. The Torrance Cultural Arts Foundation presents BUBBLEMANIA: Comedy with a Drip! for two shows only at the Armstrong Theater on Sunday, April 27. Witness the beauty, wonder and fun of bubbles, as Casey Carle brings his amazing one-man show combining spontaneous comedy, jazz music and brilliant bubbling, to the South Bay. Among the many featured skills are fantastic fog-filled bubble sculptures, blobs of helium-filled foam, bubble Ping-Pong, trapping an audience member (or two?) inside a gigantic soap bubble and thousands of bubbles filling the stage.
