Chicago celebrated Jackie Robinson West US World Series Champs today with a victory parade and rally. These kids are the talk of the town. Children and fans alike have supported these kids throughout their championship with pride. Their dedication, sportsmanship, and team spirit have shown others that it is possible for one to live out their dreams.

JRW ignited Chicago. JRW brought inspiration to Chicago. JRW won the United States World Series title little league and today Chicago celebrated their great victory. With cheers and applause, Chicagoans lined the streets from the south side all the way to Millennium Park to wave on the champions as they passed along the parade route. Starting from their ballpark on Chicago’s south side neighborhood, the US champions waved to fans along the parade route from a trolley bus.

The rally started at 9 a.m. Wednesday and thousands were waiting for the parade to start at 10 a.m. Their stop along the way included US Cellular and that was extra special. The team hoisted up the MLB World Series Championship trophy. How fitting and captivating for a day such as this.

As they rode into downtown, they waved to fans atop of a double decker bus. The confetti celebration sprayed the Millennium Park stage as the kids stood in honor. The general manager of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox took part in the celebration as they both gave an encouraging message.

They ended the celebration with Pharrell Williams’ hit song, “Happy.” Such a suitable song, so appropriate, for this moment in time.

Fox Chicago reported, “A shipment of 7,000 Jackie Robinson West National Champion shirts were expected to arrive at the DICK'S Sporting Goods South Loop location Tuesday morning, and they sold out of the Championship t-shirts as quickly as they were put on the shelves.

WGN News created special baseball cards for each of the players. Visit the WGN gallery to find out more about these little league champions. From their nickname, to their favorite subject in school, and what their career aspirations are, these cards are fitting to a great team.

On August 24, 2014, President Barack Obama tweeted: “Shout out to #LLWS U.S. champions, Chicago's own Jackie Robinson West All-Stars. You made your city and country proud.”

“The players and coaches of the Jackie Robinson West All Stars are the pride of Chicago,” Mayor Emanuel said in announcing the parade details. “They have electrified our city and rallied people from every neighborhood to come together and support these great kids. They have brought out the true spirit of Chicago and I am proud to honor our U.S. Champions with a well-earned Chicago celebration.”

This is a moment in history. This is a memorial victory for Chicago.

Today, Governor Pat Quinn announced, "I declare this day to be Jackie Robinson Day!"
