As the Fashion Industry Examiner in Baltimore, I am always interested in writing about things that I think will keep my readers/subscribers intrigued and wanting more. So with this article I hope it does just that.
What a way to end a long workday, but on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 7:15 p.m., I was awarded the opportunity and honor to interview the fabulous, Jackie Christie. You may know her as an actress on the reality television show on VH1 – Basketball Wives: LA; or as a designer; and if you did not know, she is also an author, but I don’t want to give too much away in the second paragraph, so let’s get started with the interview.
Being nervous is not really a huge trait of mine, but the nerves and the sweat came out with the initial telephone confirmation to make sure I was ready. Then the actual call began with the first ring the heat was on. Ms. Christie was a breath of fresh air. Not being too familiar with interviewing stars on her level, I just put the reporter on the shelf for a minute and we just talked woman-to-woman. Let me tell you it was the best LIVE interview I have ever participated in.
EXAMINER: Thank you Ms. Christie for allowing me to interview you this evening, and I promise to keep the questions short and precise, so are you ready?
CHRISTIE: Yes I am.
EXAMINER: Great. If you do not mind, would it be okay if we talk a little about this season’s Basketball Wives: LA and what you would like readers to know about the upcoming season as it pertains to you?
CHRISTIE: Well, I can’t really go in to details, but what I can share this with you is that returning for this season are me, Melaysia, and Draya. We also have four new ladies joining the crew. Because of legal reasons I cannot discuss a whole lot.
EXAMINER: I completely understand, but can you give me a little something for the readers that you won’t get in trouble for?
CHRISTIE: All I can say is, “Fans hold on to your seat this season is going to be AMAZING!!”
EXAMINER: Wow. I know I am excited. I wish you could share more but I know . . . I know legal. Well, I have another question for you and this one is about fashion. I am not sure if you know this or not, but I produce a fashion week here in Baltimore. Since your collection in 2011, what can your fans and our readers expect from the Jackie Christie line when it comes to fashion?
CHRISTIE: Well, I just showcased my Spring/Summer 2014 collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in September and the collection was well received. I was so surprised by the standing ovation. I have created other collections since 2011, and I also showcased in 2013 in New York as well.
EXAMINER: So wait a minute, are you saying that you have been designing for a while now?
CHRISTIE: Oh yes, I have been a designer for a long time. I’ve had other NBA wives wearing my collections for years. I make one of a kind handbags, and I would send my handbags to celebrities as a personal gift. I have even sent a handbag to Oprah.
EXAMINER: Wait, you sent a bag to Oprah, well what did she say? Wow!
CHRISTIE: Oh yes, I would send my handbags to the celebrities and they loved it. That how I got my name out there.
EXAMINER: Well, that’s a great way to get your name out there. I will be sure to share this marketing tip with our readers and local designers. Thanks for that tip. Now let’s talk about the real reason why we are here, your book. From my research I found in 2006, you and your husband produced a DVD entitled, “The Christie Un-Cut”; and in 2007, you wrote another publication, “No Ordinary Love.” Today we are here to talk about your most recent book, “Sexual Relations: A His and Hers Guide to Finding Greater Intimacy.” Would you mind talking about that a little bit for the readers?
CHRISTIE: I would love to. This is really my 6th publication and my newest book is about me sharing what is missing in relationships. I have been married for 18 years and every year my husband and I renew our vows. This book is the key to any relationship. In any relationship you must have communication and respect. This book is not just about my marriage, but it also includes advice from other celebrities. You have to know how to talk to each other. If you never say what is on your mind how is s/he supposed to know. Communication is key. In the book there is a chapter called, “Improper Thoughts.” This chapter discusses how to talk to each other in an erotic way. When my friends read the book, they wanted to share their wisdom also, so I will be publishing a Part II to this book. I also wrote love poems, discussing intimacy and speaking your mind.
EXAMINER: I can hear in your voice you are very passionate about love and relationships, but with bullying being such a huge topic with today youth, have you ever thought about writing a book for youth, the young people?
CHRISTIE: I have thought about writing a children’s book, but I have also wrote other books. I wrote a book called, “Woman” which is about loving the skin you are in, and “Colored Girls”, this book is about all races, because in one way or another we are colored in some way.
EXAMINER: Would you recommend “Sexual Relations A His & Hers Guide to Finding Greater Intimacy” to couples that are in a relationship or marriage?
CHRISTIE: Absolutely, I think my book is a great guide to help any relationship. My book was created to bring the fire back into the relationship and it also includes dating tips. A relationship is all about meeting your partner half way. When me and my husband starting dating we had to meet each other half way. Meeting your partner half way is critical in any relationship.
EXAMINER: Well, I am looking at the clock and I see I have a few minutes, so I have one more question. Usually in my interviews, I like to ask one of my favorite questions, so I would like to ask you, if I may?
EXAMINER: If you could be any accessory, what would it be and why?
CHRISTIE: I would be a COAT. I would keep you very warm, inspired, motivated, empowered, and enlightened.
EXAMINER: Out of all the interviews I have had, and asked that question of, I have never had that response. Well it looks like it’s time for me to go. I wanted to make sure I was respectful of your time, and I appreciate you allowing me the opportunity to interview you and provide our readers with an inside view of Ms. Jackie Christie. Thank you.
CHRISTIE: You are very welcome, it was fun.

As I close out this article, I just want to say, “THANK YOU AGAIN” to MNS Media PR for making this dream interview a reality. Fans and readers/subscribers whatever you do when you watch Basketball Wives: LA - “Don’t Believe The Hype.” Jackie Christie is the sweetest and most humble person I have ever encountered. To be a person of her caliber and star status she is the coolest person and was real cool peeps.
Well that’s my article and I am sticking to it. I know you are probably saying, “I wonder who she will interview next,” don’t worry I am asking myself the same thing.
Until next time, REMEMBER – Keep It Fashionable. Xoxo
