“Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa” is a comedy film based on the signature character Irving Zisman played by Johnny Knoxville. Billy, played by Jackson Nicholl will be joining him in the upcoming film. Now, the cameras take a road trip with a hidden camera in place, to capture the antics of 86-year-old Irving Zisman and his 8-year-old grandson.
Irving will introduce his grandson to various places, people and situations that will highlight childrearing tactics. Male strippers, upset beauty pageant contestants and their mothers, along with funeral mourners, biker bar patrons and unsuspecting citizens are captured by the pair of traveling goofballs.
The film shows Irving as “grandpa” traveling across country with his grandson. His grandson is lost after his mother is jailed and grandpa wants to deliver him to his father. Intertwined with the plot are segments showing the hidden camera pranks and stunts.
“Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa” was an idea of director Jeff Tremaine, after he was approached about another film in the franchise. He held off on creating the film right away, with a concern that he did not feel the pranks by the character of Irving Zisman may not be able to keep audiences entertained through an entire film. Eventually the team of Tremaine and Knoxville came up with a plot to co-exist within the film, to actually organize the pranks and make it viewable for the entire length of a full-feature film.
“Bad Grandpa” is written and directed by Jeff Tremaine, Johnny Knoxville and Spike Jonze. The movie is produced by MTV films and will be distributed by Paramount Pictures.
One early viewer states:
I watched the full movie. Regarding the movie, it is pretty awesome, great cinematography, but I hope they do realize that the plot should have been better and had a better ending…but, overall, it’s a pretty good movie! --zlazz
With a film based on “Jackass,” do we really expect a great ending?
“Bad Grandpa” is actually one out of the four “Jackass” films that will have a lose plot that will be the glue for the stunts and pranks. The previous three films had no plot and went solely as a real-life capture of reactions to those stunts the cast performs.
