'Jackass 3D' will arrive in October of next year. Thanks alot, 'Avatar' (with funny video)

The "Jackass" crew, inspired by James Cameron's "Avatar", are coming back for more.

We have "Avatar" to blame for the forthcoming up close and personal look at the world of "Jackass 3D", it would seem.  Though it was rumored that the film would be presented with the same 3D technology that James Cameron is currently printing money with in "Avatar", until now no one from the "Jackass" crew has made it official.  Leave it to Johnny Knoxville, de facto leader of the Jackass army, to comment so beautifully on the situation.  Read on for the details, my gentle Examiner readers...

We enjoyed the first two "Jackass" films here at the Comedy Examiner's Office, but the prospect of seeing another one in 3D worries us.  It's kind of like what they say about Jersey: "Nice place to visit and mock the locals, but I wouldn't wanna live there".  We feel the same way about being immersed in "Jackass"-ery.  Johnny Knoxville put out a press release about the forthcoming "Jackass 3D", announcing the release date for the film as October 15th, 2010 and saying the following:

We’re going to take the same 3D technology James Cameron used in Avatar and stick it up Steve O’s butt. We’re taking stupid to a whole new dimension.”

So, we'll say it again: Thanks alot, "Avatar".  The first "Jackass" surprised everyone-- even the people behind the film and everyone at MTV-- when it earned a whopping $64 million at the box office back in 2002.  The followup (creatively titled "Jackass: Number Two") surpassed that film's total with $72 million.  With "Avatar" cleaning up at the box office right now, it's very likely that audiences will be in the mood for more 3D shenanigans in 2010.  We're just not sure that this is the 3D experience they're looking for.

After all, imagine this scene in 3D:

Mark your calendars for October 15th, folks: that's the date you vomit in a theater for the first time since you saw "The First Wives Club".  And stay tuned to the Comedy Examiner's Office for more on "Jackass 3D" as it becomes available.  We've got other movie news, reviews, interviews, recaps, funny videos, and various other shenanigans to keep you busy while you're supposedly being all productive at work, so hit the "Subscribe" button up top if you want it all delivered straight to your email, free of charge, the moment it's published.  Why, just look at what you've been missing:
