On June 10, Jack White will release his new solo album, Lazaretto. The highly anticipated follow-up to 2012’s critically acclaimed Blunderbuss will be issued through White’s own Third Man Records, affiliated through the Columbia label. The first single, “Lazaretto,” will be released later this month, but he has released a video to an instrumental track, “High Ball Stepper.” The song is a slick pairing of White’s signature fuzzed and chaotic blues riffing guitar, and his equally signature jazz/rhythm and blues tinged piano playing.
To mark the release of Lazaretto, Third Man Records’ upcoming quarterly vault package will be dedicated to the release, with a limited edition vinyl copy of the album pressed on blue and white wax. A 7” 45 RPM of demos will also be a part of the vault package. In addition, Jack will also be attempting to set the record for “the world’s fastest released record.” On April 19 (Record Store Day), White will take the stage at 10 o’clock in the morning at Third Man Records and record “Lazaretto” direct-to-acetate, which will in turn be sent directly to United Records (around the corner from Third Man in Nashville) for pressing. The singles will be released that afternoon.
So to say the least, after about a year out of the spotlight, Jack White has hit the ground running. More to come…
