A Jack Wagner return will be coming soon for "General Hospital." That's right, the popular character of Frisco Jones is set to show up again in Port Charles, just like many other favorites from the past have been appearing.
A report from Yahoo! TV on Feb. 1 indicates that Wagner was filming in Los Angeles for his return to the show which is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 4. He's set to resume his role as Frisco Jones, which he left behind 18-years ago. In fact, he first started with the soap in 1984 and was on and off the show up until his departure in 1995.
Wagner said of their decision in how his character will look when he shows up again:
"When I talked to Frank [Valentini], the [executive] producer, and we decided that Frisco would come back it's like, 'Is he coming back [with the] 'out of the Turkish prison look,' with a little gruffy beard and Harrison Ford in 'Raiders of the Lost Ark,' or, is going to be more Michael Douglas 'Wall Street'? So he said, 'Let's make it Turkish prison.' So, I've cleaned up since I've been back."
Of his return, the character Frisco basically left behind his former wife Felicia, and daughter Maxie, to focus on his career as a CIA agent. However, now that he's back, those issues will come to play as he reunites with them both. He said of the way the role will begin:
"I'm really happy that this character can evolve and now say, 'I was gone, I wasn't a present father, I'm here now. I want to make up for the time that I was away and I think those are powerful scenes. I think it's what the audience needs to hear and it's what this character needs to say to have any kind of nobility."
Not only will he reunite with his former on-screen wife with Felicia, but she was also his wife in "real life." That meant Wagner double-checked with actress Kristina Wagner before making the decision to return to "General Hospital." She was good with it, so Frisco will make a comeback.
The ABC soap opera has been bringing all sorts of fan-favorite characters back into the mix, whether they're coming back from the dead, or prison. Among them have been Duke Lavery, Robert Scorpio, AJ Quartermaine, Ned Ashton, and former villain Cesar Faison. Frisco Jones seems to be yet another popular character, maybe one of the most (and last available), in an attempt to keep interest going with the daytime soap. His return should certainly have longtime fans excited to see how he fits into the latest story lines in Port Charles.
Roanoke viewers can watch "General Hospital" weekdays at 2 p.m. EST on ABC affiliate station WSET 13 on Cox Cable, DISH and other service providers.
