Jack the Giant Slayer Hits Theaters this Weekend

It is finally March. While that doesn’t mean that all of the big movies that you have been looking forward to for 2013 will start hitting theaters (the majority of them will still come out this summer), but a few of them will now hit theaters. We are slowly coming out of the dead zone area, and the spring movie season has come to mean more and more to the movie studios in recent years. So, at the very least, you can expect a few big movies that the movie studios hope will earn a huge amount of money and set the bar for the summer season.

Here are the movies hitting theaters March 1, 2014:

Jack the Giant Slayer - Nicholas Hoult, Stanley Tucci, Ewan McGregor. It’s the childhood fairy tale that you heard as a kid about Jack and the beanstalk, but now a bit more grown up, with tons of special effects, and with lots of action. This is the latest entry in the fairy tale genre that turns the childhood stories into more adult-oriented stories that has been taking place in Hollywood lately. In the movie, a princess ends up kidnapped and it looks like the giants might have done it, which threatens a long-standing peace between the humans and giants. Can the plucky young Jack lead the soldiers and knights to the giant’s kingdom to rescue her? Rated PG-13.

21 and Over - Miles Teller, Sarah Wright, Skylar Astin. In the mood for another raunchy teen comedy? Then here’s the movie for you this weekend. It is a very simple tale. It is a young man’s 21st birthday, and despite the fact he has to study for his big final exam, his friends want to take him out for a night-long party of drinking and debauchery. At first, the young medical student says that he only wants to go out for one beer, but it ends up being much, much more and much, much worse. Rated R.

The Last Exorcism Part 2 - Ashley Bell, Spencer Treat Clark, Julia Garner. The sequel to the popular”found footage” film that came out a couple of years ago. This movie picks right up where that movie left off with the unfortunate girl who was tormented by a demonic force in the first movie still being tormented in the second film. The young girl is found alone and terrified in the woods and she realizes she cannot remember much of what happened in the first film. Then, of course, things start going crazy as the demon that tried to claim her soul in the first movie tracks her down again. Rated R.
