Jack Nicholson, 76 has decided to step quietly away from show business and the hustle and bustle of Hollywood movie business after 50 years. Since 2010 he has starred in a different movie nearly every year and has now made a major career decision to finally retire from appearing in future movies and films.
In a news report by the NY Daily News on September 4 Nicholson has made this decision due to memory issues. At 76 he seems to be having trouble remembering the lines in the scripts. At his age it is understandable that a person can experience some memory issues especially if the parts he played in movies are extensive. Jack Nicholson isn’t unlike anyone else who gets up there in age and at times can seem forgetful but learning whole scripts is more mental exercise than the average person experiences.
His career has been legendary earning three Academy Awards, twelve Oscar nominations and eight nominations for “Best Actor”. No other male actor has ever been nominated as many times as Jack Nicholson. He started out in the film industry in the 1950’s and has been entertaining us with his greatness ever since.
Nicholson is best known for his performances in films such as; “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, “The Shining”, “As Good as It Gets”, “Batman” and “Chinatown”.
Even though he has made his announcement to retire he wants his family, friends and fans to know that he is not retiring from public life, just making and debuting in future films. His wish and request that his retirement go though without a party, fanfare or major celebration.
It is a great loss to have Jack Nicholson, one of the greatest living actors American has had the pleasure and honor to see and love exiting stage left as they say on a Hollywood stage. We have to respect his wishes and wish him the best of luck in whatever endeavors he plans for the future.
Thank you for sharing your talents and entertaining us these past fifty years!
