Jack Kingston responds to SOTU address with calls for Keystone XL pipeline

U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga) responded to President Barack Obama's State of the Union 2014 address Tuesday night, and he did not agree with President's message.

“While the President attempts to shift from the core issues that cripple our economy and threaten our security, we must bring attention to the solutions for these problems passed by the House but awaiting action in the Senate,” said Kingston. “With millions of Americans working only part time or out of the work force entirely, we cannot afford to wait. There are a number of projects we can begin now that will create jobs and strengthen our economy, namely the Savannah Harbor Expansion Project and the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline.”

The Georgia congressman said the government needs to stop "over-regulating" and help create jobs in the private sector.

Kingston mentioned President's health care law as one of the hardships for small business owners who are now forced to hire more part-time workers instead of full-time to cut health care costs.

Kingston, who is running for Senate in 2014, also criticized President's plans to use executive order on gun legislation and immigration.

Kingston represents Georgia's first congressional district.
