Former “Boardwalk Empire” actor Jack Huston says that he has “been given loads of parts” due to his mustache, according to a Dec. 28 article from Belfast Telegraph. But when he played Richard Harrow in HBO’s Prohibition-era drama, Huston had a fake mustache. Now, he has a real one, and even though he feels that he looks “like Tom Selleck,” a mustache does have its benefits.
“My brother said having facial hair made you more recognizable to babies, so I think it's helped me bond with my daughter,” he said.
Huston is the nephew of Oscar winner Anjelica Huston. It was a trip to the set of “The Witches” that got him interested in wanting to be an actor.
“Now we watch films together, but purely out of love, never from the pretension of being an actor,” he said.
Huston, who just finished his run on “Boardwalk Empire,” can be seen in the critically acclaimed “American Hustle.” He also portrayed Jack Kerouac in “Kill Your Darlings,” which was released earlier this year.
“Boardwalk Empire” returns in the fall of 2014.
