Warning: Some minor spoilers about seasons three and four of “Boardwalk Empire.”
In the first three seasons of “Boardwalk Empire,” the sympathetic antihero Richard Harrow (Jack Huston) had no problem executing people who deserved it. Whether it was just a normal contract kill or singlehandedly taking out Gyp Rosetti’s men, Harrow would go after people with almost no remorse. But outside of “Boardwalk Empire,” Huston is a completely different person – especially when it comes to his newborn baby daughter. In a Sept. 19 report from Elle, Huston revealed that his daughter has made him “cry at everything.”
“I've just become a complete butterball,” Huston said. “I was watching a kids' movie on the plane the other day and just started to cry. Being a parent is the first time you look at someone with such unconditional love. Literally I'd lay down my life for her, right here, at this second.”
This season, so far, he’s starting to understand the meaning behind having a family and people to take care of you, and this has made him more of a sensitive character. In the second episode, Harrow didn’t finish his assignment, after the man he was supposed to kill revealed that he had a family. It was also difficult for Harrow to kill the family dog, when it was gravely ill, and he walked around the corner in tears while his sister had to do the job.
“Boardwalk Empire” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO.
