West Denver Chapter of Trout Unlimited will play host to fly fishing industry giant Jack Dennis next weekend. Dennis is in town as a guest of Colorado Trout Unlimited and he will be sharing his vast knowledge of Euro nymphing. Would you like to learn more about this growing fly fishing technique? Clear your calendar for Oct. 9 and plan a drive to Golden.
Dennis, the former coach of the USA fly fishing team, used this technique to help the team become better and more effective competitors. Based out of Jackson Hole, Dennis has been teaching fly anglers to become better nymph anglers for years. As part of the October event, Dennis will be teaching an all-day class which will consist of a roadhouse discussion on theories and reasons behind the technique and examination of underwater footage showing fish feeding.
Jack will also talk about rod and reel selection during the day-long event. Fliers will also practice casting and enjoy an afternoon of on-the-water action along Clear Creek. All anglers will be able to have a chance to fish and get critiqued on the different aspects of Euro nymphing including Czech, French and Spanish styles.
The class will be held at the Golden Community Center (adjacent to Lions Park on 10th Street). The cost for this all-day class is $250, which also includes a set of DVDs that explain the principles taught in that day's session.
"This is a rare opportunity to learn and improve your nymph fishing," said WDTU President Jon Weimer, . "If anglers are interested in taking this class or want more information, go to the Colorado Trout Unlimited website and look under the events calendar and click on the 'Learn From Jack Dennis' link. Anglers can register online there as well. Hope to see you there!"
