JACK DANIEL’S® TENNESSEE HONEY LAUNCHES THE HOUSTON LEG
OF ITS “JACK’N FOR BEATS: WE GOT BARS TOUR” ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17
LAUNCH EVENT AT TAKEOVER STUDIOS TO INCLUDE CITY’S BEST
AND BRIGHTEST UP-AND-COMING RAP TALENT
(HOUSTON, TX) OCTOBER 15, 2012 ~ Having recently announced its partnership with Atlantic Records and Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA), and with a Chicago winner already crowned, Jack Daniel’s® Tennessee Honey, one of the fastest growing brands in the spirits industry, is celebrating the second year of their Jack’n for Beats: We Got Bars Tour. The one-of-a-kind mobile studio will spend eight weeks in Houston in search of the country’s top unsigned hip hop talent. The launch event is planned for Thursday, October 17 at Takeover Studios (7303 Ardmore Street) from 5-9 p.m., and some of the city’s best and brightest MC’s will be on hand to kick things off. Propain, Doughbeezy, Le$, Delorean, Boston George, Marcus Manchild, Uzoy, Durty Kash and Easy Yves Saint have all elected to bring their A-game down to the mobile studio Thursday night and offer a few pointers to those wishing to enter the talent search.
The Jack’n for Beats: We Got Bars Tour will then be stopping at lifestyle locations throughout Houston for the ensuing eight weeks, including two special Kickback Sunday editions at the infamous SF2 locations on Sunday October 20 (SF2 North location) and Sunday, November 3 (SF2 South location.) The mobile studio, an official sponsor of the KBXX Car Show on Sunday, November 16, will be onsite at the Reliant Center. Aspiring artists are invited to step into the mobile studio and drop their 16-bar lyrics on top of pre-recorded beats. The Atlantic Records and ADA A&R teams evaluate every submission and select the top-50 tracks to be uploaded to www.jacknforbeats.com where they can be viewed and (shared by the public). After the top-50 are selected, two weeks of (public) voting will reduce the field to the top-10 semi-finalists who will perform live, on stage in front of a panel of Atlantic Records artists and Atlantic and ADA A&R executives. The winner will take home $5,000.
The 2013 Chicago portion of the Jack’n for Beats: We Got Bars Tour, which began in July, had well over 2,000 participants and included surprise visits from celebrities such as B.O.B. and Chicago native Twista. Given the level of hip hop talent that has already emerged from the city of Houston, participation from the city is likely to exceed all expectations.
Soon after launching Jack Daniel’s® Tennessee Honey in the spring of 2011, the brand began creating buzz and a following within the hip hop community. Jack’n for Beats: We Got Bars Tour, seemed like a great way to give back.
“We decided to formally enter this space in a grass roots fashion by building a program that connects directly with our consumer’s passion point and providing an opportunity for aspiring artists to be seen and heard,” said Casey Nelson, Jack Daniel’s senior brand manager - flavor portfolio. “Jack Daniel’s has a long legacy in the music industry spanning many different genres. Jack’n for Beats is truly a first of its kind, unique way to reach out to the hip hop community and provide aspiring artists an opportunity to chase their dreams.”
There is no purchase necessary or cost to participate. All artists must be at least 21 years old.
