Jack Daniel's, Share our Strength, kick off Bounty & Barrel dinner series

It's not often you get to do good whilst sipping whiskey. To fix that while also demonstrating how well American whiskeys pair with food, Tennessee whiskey icon Jack Daniel's has created Bounty and Barrel: A Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Dinner Series, stopping at five cities around the country in April.

The event, which brings together high-profile regional and nationally recognized chefs to create dishes featuring local ingredients and whiskey-friendly techniques to highlight what Jack Daniel's dubs "The Single Barrel Standard." In addition, a portion of the proceeds go to charities of the participating chef's choice.

The dinner series kicks off in New York City Wednesday, March 26, featuring chefs Mark Fiorentino, Amanda Freitag (Empire Diner, "Chopped"), Sam Mason, Nick Mautone, Ed McFarland (Ed's Lobster Bar), Aaron Sanchez (Centrino, "Chopped") and Bradford Thompson. The charity partner is Share our Strength's No Kid Hungry Campaign. Tickets are still available through eventbrite as of press time and cost $250 (plus a $14.74 processing fee) per person (must be 21 or older).

Upcoming locations include:

April 9: Chicago; chefs Jimmy Bannos (Jr and Sr), Daniel Rose and Mindy Segal, benefiting the James Beard Foundation.

April 16: Austin, TX; chefs Paul Qui, benefiting Urban Roots

April 19: San Francisco; chefs Omri Aflalo, David Bazirgan, Jason Halverson, Laurence Jossel and William Werner, benefiting the Bay Area Women's and Children's Center.

April 22: Nashville; chefs Maneet Chauhan and Deb Paquette, benefiting Mending Limbs.

Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Tennessee Whiskey is a 94-proof single barrel Tennessee Whiskey. The label was initially released in 1997, and reflects a bold, full-bodied expression of Jack Daniel's whiskey. The extra spice and intense vanilla / caramel notes make it a particularly intriguing pairing spirit.
