Jack Chick is a Liar

Jack Thomas Chick (born 13 April 1924) is an American Christian-Protestant fundamentalist-evangelical well known for Chick Publications, commonly called “Chick tracts”. As a general rule, Chick tracts read like the ramblings of a paranoid schizophrenic and make Pat Robertson look mellowed and sane in comparison. Chick is as irrational as Fred Phelps of the Westboro Baptist Church. The websites RationalWiki.org and fisheaters.com contradict most of Jack Chick's so-called “facts”:

1. In some of his comic booklets, Jack Chick attacks some religions for supposedly promoting animal sacrifice, apparently blissfully ignorant of the Bible's cases where God (Yahweh) called for animal sacrifices, and even the sacrifice of a human being at least once.

2. Jack Chick links non-Christianity with violence towards and abuse of children, while not commenting on the fact that God commanded His “chosen people” to go into the land of Canaan and kill every person in it, even unto the children and the babes in arms (e.g. Numbers 31:17-18, Curse of Ham, 2 Kings 2:23-25, Exodus 12:29-30).

3. Chick likes to claim that good works are not the way into Heaven but he fails to explain those passages (like James 2:14-26, Psalm 62:12, Jeremiah 17:10, Matthew 16:27, Matthew 25:41-46, and Revelation 20:12-13) which state that good works are required for salvation. It gets really bizarre when Chick points out one part of the Bible and ignores the adjacent passages that totally undermine the very point he is making. For example, in The Chaplain Chick refers to Matthew 25:41 while ignoring Matthew 25:42-46 showing that good works are a requirement.

4. Chick denies the fact that the canons of the historic Dead Sea Scrolls and the King James Version Bible contradict each other. Where are the biblical books of Sirach, Tobit, Jubilees, 1 Enoch, War Scroll, Damascus Document, 4 Maccabees, Shepherd of Hermas, Epistle of Barnabas, etc.? Chick also hates the Septuagint even though it was the primary Bible of the Apostles of Jesus.

5. Chick's seemingly pro-Jewish and pro-Zionist views in Love the Jewish People have to be contrasted with Where's Rabbi Waxman?, a tract asserting that Jews will go to Hell if they don't accept Jesus; and with his promotion of barely-disguised anti-Semitic conspiracy theories in some of the Crusader comics series (complete with citations to conspiracy theorist Des Griffin and to Alberto Rivera's claims that the Vatican invented Zionism).

6. Chick claims that the Jesuits instigated the U.S. Civil War, supporting the Confederate cause and seeking to undermine the Union. When they failed, they (Jesuits) arranged the assassination of Abraham Lincoln and later they formed the Ku Klux Klan.

Jack Chick's tracts are mostly legal under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, although some tracts may have been cause for slander and/or libel suits, such as “Dark Dungeons (Dungeons & Dragons)” which could have led to a lawsuit from TSR if they had chosen to file one. However, in many nations such as Canada, a few Chick tracts are illegal under various hate speech and defamation laws, and they are considered seditious in Singapore. Jerry Falwell blamed homosexuals, neo-pagans, and feminists for the September 11, 2001 attacks.
