Jace casting update and why actors consider multiple projects

Monday brought more questions as to where things stand with actor Alex Pettyfer and Screen Gems, the studio behind Cassandra Clare’s ‘City of Bones’ screen adaptation. The Hunger Games Examiner reports that Pettyfer told J-14 that he has met with Hunger Games studio, Lionsgate.

Pettyfer told J-14, “I met with Lionsgate. I think Gary Ross is a great director," he said. "I have [read the books]. I'm a very big fan. I just hope they can conquer the movie."

We know that he has been offered the role of Jace Wayland in the ‘City of Bones’ movie. The status of these negotiations remains unknown but Sony Pictures has been regularly tweeting a casting call for the male lead of Jace. But take note that just because an actor is in negotiations the studio will continue considering other options for Jace. This is good news because it shows that the studio is dedicated to this project and working to move it forward.

‘Mortal Instruments’ author Cassandra Clare recently tweeted her thoughts on all this talk about casting Jace and gave some insight as to how these things work. Click here to read what she had to say.

We learned yesterday via Twitter that actor Douglas Booth is meeting with Screen Gems later this week (read article here.) As negotiations with Pettyfer have continued to drag fans have enjoyed discussing other actors with “Jace” material. Douglas Booth has been a popular mention along with ‘Eclipse’ star Xavier Samuel.

It has also been rumored that Pettyfer has signed on to star in ‘The Seventh Son’ a series based off of the books by Joseph Delaney. Again, there has been no confirmation as to the status on this project despite many websites that continue to report the same news just reworded.

Also, keep in mind that actors are always (if they can) considering multiple roles. People do this in many industries as well. It’s how was can best ensure job security. Actors can also sign for multiple roles. Just look up the busy schedule of some of your favorite actors on IMDB. What matters is when a film gets the green light and goes into production.

Again, no announcement in regards to the casting of Jace Wayland has been made by Screen Gems. Until they make an announcement there is no real news on where the part stands. As I’ve said, I’m putting my trust in the studio and director Scott Stewart to pick the best man for the job. And we should not forget all the other compelling and great characters whose casting we should equally be excited about.

I don't blame him weighing his options with these jobs! He'd be a good Peeta, and an AUH-MAZING Jace, but I don't know nothing about "The Seventh Son." Those books don't sound all that good to me for some reason, considering they're about a twelve year old. :/
ANYWAYS, I respect his decision on whatever he chooses. (*coughs* please be The Mortal Instruments.) And he's not abusing his fans with considering these roles, he's trying to do what's right for him. He can't think of everyone else, when it's his career and life. He will do what ever he wants, and people should respect that.
And also may I add? Douglas Booth would also an AUH-MAZING Jace too. (I feel for him last night) We have to consider all options like Screen Gems is. I trust in them to bring Jace justice.
