On Thursday, March 21, the Orlando Solar Bears will be playing at Orlando’s Amway Center at 7 p.m. However, this hockey game has another purpose other than winning (although that’s what Orlando will be hoping for). A portion of the ticket sales purchased from Junior Achievement members, families, and co-workers will be donated back to the organization.
Junior Achievement (JA) is a nonprofit youth organization dedicated to helping young people get acquainted with and succeed in the real world and workforce. Since 1919, JA’s programs have helped countless students prepare for their futures with education and hands-on learning. Their volunteer count of almost 180,000 people spans through all 50 states and reaches more than four million students each year.
The organization is not just for the kids. JA volunteers can have a variety of experience levels, including business members, parents, current college students, and retirees. As with many nonprofit organizations, volunteers gain great experiences with their involvement with JA. Volunteers have fun sharing their knowledge with a new generation while knowing that they are improving the minds and lives of the country’s youth.
Don’t have too much time to donate to Junior Achievement but still want to get involved? No worries- commitments from JA members vary from one day to ten weeks. However much time you can spare, JA will work with you to figure out what will be best for you and the students.
Junior Achievement supplies all the necessary training and curriculums. Now, they also provide a fun way for JA members to get out and enjoy one of Orlando’s favorite sports events.
This Thursday, the Orlando Solar Bears, members of the ECHL and affiliated with the Minnesota Wild and Houston Aeros, will be competing against the Greenville Road Warriors. This will be their eighth game against Greenville.
To assist in raising funds for Junior Achievement, a portion of the ticket sales for this game from those involved with JA will be returned to the organization. Members get to see a five-star rated ice hockey game from Orlando’s beloved team and also raise funds for their favorite organization. That’s quite a win for Junior Achievement and, hopefully, for the Orlando Solar Bears.
Tickets for Junior Achievement affiliates must be purchased online here. For those just wanting to see a great game from a spectacular team, regular tickets can be purchase at ticketmaster.com and on the Orlando Solar Bears website.
