Intricate lace insets and glamorous fishtail gowns in shades of pale yellow, blush, bright coral and black, the J. Mendel Spring collection was filled with feminine confections for which they are known, but with a modern, sporty edge that even the downtown crowd would appreciate.
Inspired by Serge Gainsbourg’s song “Cargo Culte,” designer Gilles Mendel created a glamorously chic collection for the “free spirited” and the “ultra-refined New York sophisticate.”
Although the designer threw in some sportier, casual pieces such as the white raglan sleeved t-shirt with geometric and floral pieced lace and the gray leaf embroidered tulle t-shirt and matching mini skirt, the looks were still very polished and quintessentially J. Mendel.
The standouts in his Spring collection were definitely the gorgeous fishtail evening gowns which were composed of crisp blush silk gazaar, bright coral lace, or a black graphic lace embroidered number which was my personal favorite and will surely be worn by many a starlet on the red carpet. Truly a breathtaking collection that any fashionista will appreciate…
