J'Leon Love would love to see Floyd Mayweather vs. Marcos Maidana

As seen in an article on HustleBoss.com on Saturday, April 19, super middleweight prospect J'Leon Love recently discussed a possible matchup between Floyd Mayweather and eight-division titlist Manny Pacquiao.

With his unanimous decision victory over Tim Bradley in their April 12 rematch, Pacquiao showed that he still has plenty left in his tank at the age of 35.

While Pacquiao may not be the force he was five years ago during his initial run through the welterweight ranks, he is still a committed athlete with great upside in several areas.

Love (17-0, 10 KO’s) was able to take in the action and admits he was pulling for the former champion from Palm Springs.

“I wasn’t surprised,” Love stated following a workout at the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas.

“I did want Timothy Bradley to win,” Love added. “Just a new face in boxing. Being that he didn’t really have a clear victory over Pacquiao in their first fight, I did want him to win. But Pacquiao, being the great fighter that he is and very talented, he went and got the victory.”

When asked about Pacquiao’s future, Love was firm in wanting to see a faceoff between the Filipino icon and the game’s best fighter, Floyd Mayweather.

“I hear that they’re trying to do another [Juan Manuel] Marquez fight with him,” Love said.
“I’m really not interested in that. I’m a fan of boxing regardless. I want to see what the whole world wants to see. Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather.”

Love fights under the Mayweather Promotions umbrella and considers Mayweather a good friend, so it’s not surprising to hear him favor his boss.

“That’s two great fighters,” Love stated. “I think Floyd Mayweather would be victorious, but I think that’s a fight that the boxing world would love to see. And that’s what I want to see.”

Mayweather is gearing up for a May 3 clash on Showtime pay per view with Argentina’s Marcos Maidana. Love will face off with rugged former title challenger Marco Antonio Periban on the undercard.
