J'Leon Love not distracted by opponent change

According to a report Saturday on ProBoxingInsider.com, middleweight prospect is not concerned that he is no longer facing former champion Bronco McKart in his return to Detroit next weekend.

As one of the fasting rising stars in the middleweight division, Love was looking forward to adding a former world champion to his impressive, if short, resume when he climbs back in the ring next Saturday in his native Detroit. Unfortunately, McKart had to pull out do to injury, but Derrick Findley has agreed to step in against Love.

When asked about how the change in opponents would effect his preparations, Love seemed unfazed.

"It didn't effect me at all. I had over 100 amateur fights. You never really know who you are gonna fight. You weigh in and go from there," he said.

When pressed for specific changes that were needed given the differences between the styles of Bronco McKart and Derrick Findley, Love again took it all in stride.

"We had to make a change and get right handers in here. No biggie. Derrick Findley has an awkward style. He is gonna come forward and be aggressive and do what he can. We are prepared for it."

Although he is from Michigan, J'Leon Love now trains in Las Vegas and has surrounded himself with some of the best and fastest rising names in the sport. When your boss is Floyd Mayweather Jr. and your trainer is Roger Mayweather, there is not much else to do besides get better. And with a young, talented crop of up and comers as teammates on The Money Team, he has his share of fellow fighters pushing him along as well. Ishe Smith, Badou Jack, Luis Arias and Lanell Bellows are there offering support while working on perfecting their own craft.

A win on February 23 will probably elevate J'Leon Love from prospect to contender status. He has created a buzz in the industry and with The Money Team behind him, there is little doubt that he will be pushed as far as his abilities will carry him. Although he no longer has Bronco McKart to contend with, Derrick Findley is going to show up and put on the best show he can. Should Love take care of business, it's likely a higher profile fight awaits him the next time out.
