MSN states that Rowling is not only writing the screenplay for her wizards textbook “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” but she’s also working with Warner Brothers to turn it into a trilogy. Rowling has partnered with WB CEO Kevin Tsujihara to partner for the three films which is set seventy years before the beginning of “Harry Potter.”

Currently, no casting information has been discussed or release dates set.

The book, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” will not be directly linked to Harry Potter or his family, but instead the story is linked to the wizards world in general. Rowling stated that the textbook was neither a sequel nor a prequel to “Harry Potter.” It was merely meant to be an extension to the wizard world. J.K. certainly had no thoughts that this particular book would become a movie.

On Rowling’s Facebook page she wrote, “The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the ‘Harry Potter’ books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway.”
