Well it has finally happened. The director for the highly anticipated “Star Wars: Episode VII” has been announced, and I have to say I am quite surprised.
The Wrap has learned today that Lucasfilm Chief and “Star Wars” producer Kathleen Kennedy has been courting J.J. Abrams (“Star Trek Into Darkness”) for quite some time, and he has finally conceded.
That’s right. The man that re-invigorated the “Star Trek” franchise is switching sides to do the same for “Star Wars.”
Abrams threw everyone off (like he likes to do) back in December when he announced he had been approached, but turned it down because he’d “rather be in the audience not knowing what was coming, rather than being involved in the minutiae of making the film.”
While I am excited that such a quality filmmaker has decided to tackle this tremendous feature I still can’t believe he would put down his Trekkie followers so quickly, but I guess he intends to live long and prosper in a galaxy far far away.
