According to TheWrap, J.J. Abrams will direct “Star Wars: Episode VII.” Abrams has had success in the sci-fi film genre. He directed “Star Trek” in 2009, “Super 8” and “Star Trek Into Darkness” which is set to hit theaters on May 17. Abrams is also a named creator on TV series, including “Lost” and “Fringe.”
It has still not been released as to what the storyline of the film will entail. “Star Wars: Episode VII” is scheduled to be released in 2015 with a script by Michael Arndt. Arndt previously wrote the screenplays for “Little Miss Sunshine,” “Toy Story 3” and “Brave.” His current works include “Oblivion” which is set to be released in theaters on April 19 and “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” which is set to hit theaters on November 22.
Abrams is no stranger to science fiction, yet he does have some that are not a fan of his work. This choice in director may prove to be a bad choice for some.
