
On March 25, 2010 the Romance Writers of America® (RWA) announced the finalists for the organization's coveted RITA Awards®. Followers of Nora Roberts' In Death series, which she writes under her J.D. Robb pseudonym, will not be surprised to learn that Promises in Death, released in February 2009, is among the contenders for the 2010 RITA for Best Romantic Suspense Novel.
Roberts has twice won RITA Awards for works in the In Death series. Remember When won in 2004, and Survivor in Death was a 2006 winner.
In Promises in Death, this year's finalist, Lieutenant Eve Dallas searches for the murderer of Amaryllis Coltraine. Coltraine, a fellow police detective, has been romantically linked with Eve's friend, Chief Medical Examiner Li Morris. Among the suspects in Coltraine's death is Alex Ricker, whose father Eve and Roarke helped send to prison.
The other seven nominees for the 2010 RITA Award for Best Romantic Suspense Novel include One Scream Away by Kate Brady, Waking the Dead by Kylie Brant, A Dark Love by Margaret Carroll, Whisper of Warning by Laura Griffin, Stolen Fury by Elisabeth Naughton, Dark Country by Bronwyn Parry and Kill for Me by Karen Rose.
The Romance Writers of America issues its RITA Awards in a total of twelve categories. Additional finalists in each of the following categories are listed on its website:

Winners of the RITA Awards will be announced on July 31, 2010 during the RWA's annual awards ceremony at its 30th Annual National Conference. Nora Roberts will be the conference's keynote speaker.
