This year I decided to release my own All Wichita area girls’ high school basketball team, mostly to pay tribute to the hard work and energy these players have always demonstrated throughout their high school careers.

So here’s my J.C. 2014 All-Wichita High School Girls Basketball Team. These were selected with the following criteria in mind:

  • They are high school seniors
  • Had to have played in the Wichita area at a local area high school
  • They did more for their teams and their programs success, a team player

Players:

Maddie Northcutt:

She helped her state title Wichita South team to a second title this season. Her effort and energy especially defensively and rebounding were vital to the success of Wichita South the last two years. She is headed to Pittsburgh, Kansas to play for the Gorillas next season.

Eledria Franklin:

Was teammates with Northcutt the last two years at Wichita South. Played point and the off guard spot. Had some big moments through her high school career including coming up big in the state tourney. Another 110% effort and energy player. She’s headed to Newman University this fall and will certainly help the Jets next season.

Mariah Suchan:

Played at Maize South. She helped build a new high school program from the ground up. All League 1st team selection the last three years. Led her team in scoring, rebounding, blocks. Set career marks of 1009 points and 835 rebounds. Another workhorse that gave energy all the time and led her team from 5 wins to 13 wins. Will head to University at Buffalo(SUNY) next fall and play for the Bulls.

Sydney Kuhn:

Attended Kapaun and led her team to another state playoff appearance and 3rd place finish at 5A state. All League 1st team selection. Another team player and endless effort player. Will head to Notre Dame next fall to play volleyball.

Kilah Hoenscheidt:

Went to Goddard Eisenhower and helped her team from the ground up also. Her team went from zero wins her first season to a 5A state playoff appearance this past year. A team player, much like the ones mentioned above, her team succeeded because of that team play.
