The Brazilian community will be receiving today for a show at the American Airlines Arena (601 Biscayne Blvd., Miami – 8 p.m.) the Brazilian singer Ivete Sangalo, the Latin Grammy Award-winner, in the category of Best Tropical Brazilian Roots award in 2005.

She said to the American Airlines Arena website: “On September 4th I will record my new DVD in New York at Madison Square Garden, so I was absolutely delighted when the Rhythm Foundation invited me to perform in Miami - such a beautiful, tropical and international city full of people that love great music. I am excited to perform for my American and Latino fans and I know that there are also thousands of Brazilians living in South Florida. I am sure that the green and yellow of Brazil will take over American Airlines Arena and our hearts will beat as one on August 28th.” (Speaking from her home in Salvador, Brazil)

Her 8 CD’s sold more than five million copies while her three DVDs have sold close to two million. She has collaborated with some of the finest singers from around the world including Brian McKnight, Gilberto Gil, Alejandro Sanz, Juan-Luis Guerra, Juanes and Shakira. Whether it’s performing at Rock In Rio Lisbon or in front of one million fans at Salvador carnival every year, Ivete always delivers an extraordinarily energetic and crowd-pleasing show.

According to the Wikipedia, South Florida's large Brazilian community is mostly centered between around the islands and northeastern section of Miami-Dade County (North Bay Village, Bay Harbor Islands, Miami Beach, Surfside, Key Biscayne, Aventura and North Miami Beach) with the exception of Doral. In Broward County, the population is centered around the northeastern part as well (Deerfield Beach, Pompano Beach, Oakland Park, Coconut Creek, Lighthouse Point and Sea Ranch Lakes), with some living on the border of Palm Beach County, Florida (particularly the Boca Raton area).
