Already in the midst of winter conditioning, the Indiana University football team has set the schedule for spring football practice.
The Hoosiers will begin workouts on Saturday, March 2 and conclude with the annual spring game, slated for Saturday, April 13. IU is allowed 15 total practices under NCAA rules.
Among the key questions to be answered this offseason is the health of starting quarterback Tre Roberson. Roberson broke his leg during the second game of the season and was sidelined for the remainder of the 2012 campaign. He appears to be recovering well, but his status and participation for spring remains to be seen. IU missed his dual-threat ability, although junior college import Cameron Coffman and true freshman Nate Sudfeld had their moments at the QB spot.
The Hoosiers will once again focus on the defensive side of the ball. IU head coach Kevin Wilson is focusing on some junior-college additions to add a talent infusion on what has notoriously been a porous defensive unit.
The entire spring workout schedule is as follows: March 2, 3, 5, 7, 19, 21, 23, 26, 28, April 2, 4, 6, 9, 11, 13.
Extra Points: Graduating senior defensive tackle Larry Black Jr. is participating in the 2ND Annual Casino Del Sol All-Star Game, a showcase for college seniors hopeful of playing professionally, on Friday at Kino Stadium in Tucson, Arizona. The game will be broadcast on ESPN 3.....IU commit Antonio Allen, an Indianapolis Ben Davis product, particpated in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl last Saturday. He's the first Hoosier commitment to play in the game.
