Its free Kids Day at CA State Fair

"Wells Fargo Kids Day" at the California State Fair is every Tuesday. Yes, that is indeed a day to celebrate because kids 12 years old and under get free fair entrance. And, rides for all ages are only $1 each. This entrance savings equates to $6 per child which may not be huge but everything starts to add up when mom and dad are heading to the fair with a couple kids and perhaps a few friends of the kids as well. The savings on the rides will vary depending on the rides you usually enjoy or the ones you would have foregone if the tickets weren't $1 on this special Kids Day.

The CA State Fair is open on Mon-Thurs from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Fri-Sun from 10:00 a.m to 10:00 p.m. The Carnival is open M/W/Th from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. with Kids Park opening at noon and T/F/Sat/Sun from 11:00 a.m. to midnight with Kids Park opening at 11:00 a.m. If that seems confusing, just figure that the fair hours are for exhibits and other general fair features while the Carnival and Kids Park hours are for the areas full of rides.

Something else that many people don't realize but could equate to some hefty savings is that you are welcome to bring outside food and drinks onto the fairgrounds; however, no glass, aluminum cans or outside alcohol are allowed and ice chests will be searched at all entrances." If the fair food busts your bank, you can bring in some sandwiches and snacks to keep the kids fed or to supplement the fun fair food that they will inevitably be cheering for mom and dad to buy them.

Some other good information to know if you plan to attend on Kids Day includes:

  • If you lost your child, please contact the Cal Expo Police at (916) 263-3050.
  • Cal Expo’s First Aid is located in between the Main Gate and the Promenade Stage Area.
  • If you want to take a break from the heat, air conditioned buildings are the California Buildings A, B, C and D, the Expo Center and the Tractor Supply Big Barn

This year the California State Fair has a "Dream Big" focus that is an ideal focal point for families. The "Dream Big" exhibit features a Story Time Reading Adventure Mon-Sun where children can relax and listen to stories read by volunteers. This exhibit also has a "Play Time" area for kids to burn off their extra energy while the adults take a breather. This is an outer space themed play time exploration area. They also have a "Dream Big Photo Op" with interactive displays that encourages children to think about "what do I want to be when I grow up?"

The "Dream Big" adventure continues with a theater where "children have the opportunity to be an actor in a fast-paced improv. This is a one-of-a-kind entertainment experience." The theater fun runs everyday at 12:30, 4:30 and 6:30 p.m.
