The Italian magazine Chi will publish photos of a bikini-clad Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, while on a private vacation with Prince William on the island of Mustique, Gossip Cop reported on Feb 12. The Duchess’s growing royal baby bump is evident in the photos.
St. James’s Palace has issued a statement saying it is “disappointed” that Chi has published the photos of Middleton. Chi is the same magazine that published topless photos of the Duchess in France last fall, as well as the controversial pictures of Princess Diana’s final moments after the Paris car crash that took her life in August 1997.
The Palace issued a statement regarding the publication of the bikini-clad pregnant Duchess of Cambridge:
“We are disappointed that photographs of the Duke and Duchess on a private holiday look likely to be published overseas. This is a clear breach of the couple’s privacy.”
The photos appear to have been taken from a boat offshore. The fact that a photographer was able to get close enough to take the pictures is a huge blow for the privately-owned island of Mustique, which has prided itself on being a paparazzi-free zone for decades. Queen Elizabeth’s sister Princess Margaret often vacationed in complete privacy on the island in the Caribbean.
Whether or not St. James’s Palace will take legal action against Chi magazine is unknown at this time.
