Italian fashion heir Vittorio Missoni’s plane missing in Venezuela

Italian fashion heir Vittorio Missoni of the fashion house of Missoni private plane is missing off the coast of Venezuela. Five other people are presumed missing among them Vittorio’s wife Maurizia Castigligioni.

The Missoni Company was founded in 1953 by Ottavio and Rosita Missoni. Their three children, Vittorio, Luca, and Angela (who is its current designer) took over the brand in the 1990s, and currently co-own it. They introduced the Iconic brand to a different generation and increased profits to about $100 million dollars a year.

Vittorio, who is known as the Missoni “ambassador,” has recently been in charge of the brand’s international expansion.

The Missoni fashion house is known for its trademark zigzag and geometric patterns in sweaters, scarves and other knitwear and is one of Italy's most famous fashion brands.

Vittorio was in Los Roques archipelago a popular tourist destination located off the coast of Venezuela on vacation.
