Some huge news coming out of Brazil, as Italian captain Gianluigi Buffon has confirmed via his Twitter page that he has suffered an ankle injury and will be out of today's FIFA World Cup Group D clash against England.

Cesare Prandelli had confirmed on Friday that Buffon had sustained the injury, according to ESPN, but despite saying it wasn't serious, Buffon acknowledged that it was serious enough to miss today's game.

"Good day to everyone..." Buffon began on Twitter.

"Life is beautiful and I am still indebted to her... It won't be a missed game or another World Cup missed out to make me change my mind!!!

"Besides, there are many ways to be important, even if you're not a protagonist on the field... therefore... forza great Salvatore... forza magical lads... FORZA ITALIA, my great love!!!"

In place of Buffon will likely be reserve goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu.
