Italian art in the thirties exhibit closes at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence

The exhibit "Thirties. Art in Italy Beyond Fascism" on until Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, Italy hosts 99 paintings, 17 sculptures and 20 objects of design considered masterpieces of the 1930's. The Italian fascist era, considered one of most formative periods in Italian art after the Renaissance, brought changes in design and mass communication and the evolution of Italian art from classicism to Futurism, expressionism to abstract art, and monumental art to decorative painting.

The roster of forty artists includes Mario Sironi, Giorgio de Chirico, Alberto Savinio, Achille Funi, Carlo Carrà, Corrado Cagli, Arturo Nathan, Achille Lega, Ottone Rosai, Ardengo Soffici, Giorgio Morandi, Ram, Thayaht, Antonio Donghi, Marino Marini, Renato Guttuso,Ivanhoe Gambini, Carlo Levi, Filippo de Pisis, Scipione, Antonio Maraini and Lucio Fontana.
