It was a night of foie gras at Baltimore's Sláinte

In some parts of the country, it's not only difficult -- but actually impossible -- to order foie gras from a restaurant menu. Fortunately, Baltimore's not one of those places. Recently, Fells Point Irish pub Sláinte had a night of affordable foie gras specials!

The restaurant is carved from an older home, with several floors having different ambiances and their own service bars.

I ordered a few foie gras items:

Foie Gras Sliders ($14) with brioche bun, apple compote, onion/bacon jam, balsamic reduction. They had a very generous portion of foie gras in a fun, modern presentation. The condiments complimented the meat, with a sweet/savory bent.

Foie Gras Poutine ($18) Served with potato wedges, mozzarella curd, truffled Guinness gravy. This is pretty rich and decadent, also generous with foie gras.

Foie Gras Quesadilla ($15) Creekstone beef bacon, Asiago fresca, blackberry braised purple cabbage, house pickled jalapeno and shallot. It also had homemade crema. I felt like there were too many flavors going on and they overpowered the foie gras.

I also ordered a non-foie gras item -- the prime rib special -- but that didn't go very well at all (even after sending it back to the kitchen), so I can't recommend it.
