“Are you ready for some... theater?”

We've all heard of tailgating at a football game: the time-honored tradition of holding a picnic in the parking lot before the big game. It's a great way to save money on high concession prices inside the stadium, and to get the party started early – assuming you don't party too hard and pass out before the kickoff.

But have you ever heard of tailgating a play? Brian Feldman, Orlando's most prolific performance artist, has, and he's inviting you to join in the fun. Feldman is organizing a pre-show pow-wow in front of Loch Haven Park's Lowndes Shakespeare Center this Sunday to celebrate the first matinee performance of The 39 Steps. This recent Broadway hit, a spoof of the classic Alfred Hitchock film, opens on September 15 and runs through Oct 10.

The show starts at 2pm, with the B.Y.O.Whaterver tailgate festivities starting at 9am. Tickets to the show can be ordered through OrlandoShakes.org.

Remember, this is an unofficial party, and is not sponsored by the Shakes, Alfred Hitchcock, or Hank Williams Jr.
