It's summer in Philly: time for idiotic flash mobs

Everyone in America knows about the problem Philadelphia has with teens running flash mobs. They aren't the lame artsy kind where people just freeze in synchronicity at a train station. They're lame violent kind where kids jump random patrons of South Street or The Gallery at Market East.

So, it's summer in Philadelphia. It's time for some more idiotic flash mobs because school is letting out and these unsupervised kids are going to have more free time. People all over the city will once again be passing the blame and parents will not be taking it themselves.

It's not the school's fault that these kids are doing flash mobs, the schools can't do anything right and aren't supposed to be raising your children. Parents of these children have yet to take any personal responsibility. They don't monitor what their kids are doing online where most of these events are organized.

There isn't a solution to really stop flash mobs except pointing out how stupid these kids are. If the mainstream media would stop celebrating these things as some kind of violent phenomenon and instead point out what kinds of losers these kids are for randomly harassing people, we'd all be in a better place. Scare tactics don't work with kids: it's like pointing out some gangster's graffiti tag. They use that kind of stuff to brag to their friends. "Jim Gardner said we were a violent threat to Philadelphia!"

Parents of these kids need to stop relying on schools and the government to raise their children. It's almost a sort of passive aggressive side of neglect. The Mayor of Philadelphia should not have to come on TV at 10 o'clock every night and ask if you know where your kids are. If you don't know where your school children are at 10 pm on a weekday, you're a terrible parent.

It goes without saying that there are just bad kids out there too. The kinds of kids that grow up to be criminals or asking if you'd like to upsize your Wendy's value meal. Basic evolution tells you that some people just aren't going to reach that next rung on life's ladder. Of course this is not to suggest that we should just stand back and watch these kids ruin their lives but we should stop trying to have "conversations" and find "solutions" when these acts are really the fault of a few things: lack of personal responsibility, terrible parenting and basic Darwinism.

Concerning parents: Have you seen/heard/communicated with the average Philadelphian? They're pretty stupid -- it's possible to be a bad parent. Lol.
