Clevelanders, here's your opportunity to experience a turn-of-the-century Halloween and enjoy a family autumn getaway when you attend Hallowe'en in Greenfield Village at the Henry Ford Museum complex in Dearborn, Michigan near Detroit taking place October 11-13, October 18-20 and October 25-27. It is approximately a 2.5 hour drive from Cleveland.
Hallowe'en in Greenfield Village Visitors can travel back in time to the early 1900's and witness an old-fashioned Halloween where 1000 hand-carved pumpkins will light your path as you stroll the streets of the historic Greenfield Village. Eerie characters like a clever witch and the Headless Horseman will be around to meet and greet you as you make your way to 11 themed treat stations. (Treat bags will be provided by Greenfield Village).
Meals and snacks will be available for purchase at the Taste of History and the Guild Beer Hall in the Village. However, if you want a real treat, Greenfield Village is offering a special Hallowe'en in Greenfield Village Dinner Package (from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays in October) that includes a candle-lit harvest supper at the famed Eagle Tavern (an 1850's stagecoach stop) in the Village along with musical entertainment and harvest games that will give you a glimpse of your future.
Menu items include cheese & dry cured sausage, squash-apple cider chutney, roasted chicken breast with apricot thyme glaze, stuffed pumpkin, beefsteak pie, corn relish and pumpkin bundt cake with cinnamon glaze.
After dinner you are invited to join the outside activities in the Village. Cost of the dinner also includes admission to the Hallowe'en in Greenfield Village event. Price of the dinner package is $55.50 for adults and youth. Children 2 and under are free.
Costumes for both adults and children are encouraged but you can also come as you are.
A Special Note: This Hallowe'en in Greenfield Village event involves a large portion of outdoor activities and the festivities take place in all kinds of weather. Make sure you bring appropriate clothing and weather gear that cover a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions. Also be sure to bring a flashlight.
There is also a reminder not to bring real or imitation weapons into Greenfield Village. Costume props like swords or guns or any prop that resembles a weapon will be confiscated and checked at the Village entry gate upon arrival.
Special Health Note: Visitors who have allergies should be aware that some of the treats being handed out at the 11 treat stations may contain allergens like peanuts, wheat or dairy.
Hours for Hallowe'en in Greenfield Village are 6:30 p.m - 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 6:30 p.m- 8 p.m. on Sundays. Time slots for admittance are every 30 minutes. Admission is $15 for adults and $15 for youth (3-12). Children 2 and under are free. There is a $5 parking fee per vehicle for non-members.
