ALA Boxing's Milan Melindo (25-0-0, 9 KOs) has "World Class" written all over him. Here's a guy who operates like a seasoned surgeon inside the boxing ring with his precise punches and incredible instincts, prudently breaking down his opponents' gameplan as the fight progresses.
Hard-hitting Mexican opponent Juan "Panterita" Esquer (27-9-2, 21 KOs) has made his gameplan clear from the get-go. "Tumbahun kita," said Esquer as quoted by Philboxing.com's Rene Bonsubre addressing Melindo in the native Visayan dialect which translates "I will knock you out."
A look into Esquer's previous fights will prove him an honest man. Whether he is a prophet remains to be seen in Cebu Friday on Saturday night at Pinoy Pride XI. This scribe seriously doubts it.
Esquer's style is deliberate and one-dimensionsal. He will come in, throw wild hooks and haymakers like a closing pitcher looking to finish a game with his fastballs. Melindo is too smart for that. If Melindo's hardwork with ALA strength and conditioning coach Pio Solon on developing his power shows up, this could be a quick night's work for the "Method Man".

They's talked their trash, they've made their weights, and it's time for Melindo to put on a show and make believers out of those who have yet to be sold on his potential. On top of that list is the skeptic Esquer himself who called him a "newbie" and has been in the ring with the division's top names like Ivan Calderon and Tyson Marquez.
We'll see what he calls him after Saturday night.
Merlito Sabillo
There's a name in this fight's undercard that's definitely worth watching. Undefeated minimumweight fighter Merlito Sebillo (16-0-0, 7 KOs) holds the OPBF and GAB minimumweight straps and is an exciting fighter that has been wining the hearts of local fight fans with his gutsy performances and fan-friendly style.
He will be facing 24-year-old Indonesian Sofyan Effendi who has made a living taking beatings in Cebu after losses to Filipino boxers Florante Condes, Edrin Dapudong and headliner Melindo himself.
