Apr 16, 2011 - Due to its popularity, Singin' in the Rain at the Candlelight Pavilion has been extended through May 15.
Apr 10, 2011 – Based on the MGM 1952 film by the same name, the Candlelight Pavilion in Claremont is presenting Singin’ in the Rain, a colorful and most entertaining production that you will certainly enjoy.
Set in Hollywood of the 1920s, this is a romantic comedy about the early days of sound film, just as it transitioned from silent movies into “talkies.” The stage version includes the dance and music numbers that made the movie history, including “Good Morning,” “You Are My Lucky Star,” and of course the famous title song during which, for this production, it actually rains on stage!
The voices of Wesley Alfvin as Don Lockwood and Colette Peters as Kathy Sheldon, accompanied by a talented cast, plus the rhythmic tap dance numbers that will have you dancing on your seat, make this show one of the best at this venue. And next to the entertainment, what makes the Candlelight Pavilion unique is its excellent dinner service. With entrees like Slow-Roasted Tri Tip and Grilled Tilapia Fillet, each paired with a wine recommended by the Chef, the kitchen serves delicious appetizers, desserts, and specialty drinks.
The tickets, which range from $48 to $68 for adults and $25 to $30 for children 12 and under, include dinner, show, and sales tax. (Appetizers, desserts, beverages and tips are additional.) Dinner is served about an hour before the musical begins, with dessert and/or coffee served during the intermission.
Entire families are welcome. The Candlelight Pavilion is a favorite for celebrating anniversaries, birthdays, and other important occasions. Singin' in the Rain runs until May 8, Thursday through Saturday at 6 pm and Sundays at 5 pm. Both Saturday and Sunday have matinee shows at 11 am.
