The Kennesaw State University Department of Athletics in association with Pic2 Productions is producing a series documenting the entire process of constructing the Kennesaw State Football team. Comcast Sports Southeast will premier the first of a four part series on Friday, Dec. 20 at 9:30 p.m. (ET).
For the next two years the show will give a detailed account of what goes into forming a college football team. Viewers will get a first hand account of the dynamic process:
- The formation of the exploratory committee chaired by the infamous Vince Dooley.
- The official University System of Georgia Board of Regents voting in favor of KSU adding the football team.
- The securing of Fifth third Bank as a leading sponsor.
- The hiring of Brian Bohannon as head coach.
- The invitation to join the Big South Conference.
- The announcement of the first-ever game at East Tennessee State on Sept 3,2015, and more.
The kickoff game doesn't take place until fall 2015, but fans won't be disappointed because the Owl Nation will have a full view of the KSU program in action.
Following episodes will focus on the head coach and his staff as they perform the recruiting process and take the viewers through open tryouts, signing day and the moment they disclose the infamous uniforms.
Viewers will have the ability to see inside the first day players hit the field, the initial practice and spring game.
The series will also document how student organizations work alongside the Department of Athletics to ensure the marketing, ticket distribution, renovations of facilities and preparation for the long awaited first game at the fifth Third Bank Stadium.
"The decision by an institution to start a football program is complex and requires significant collaboration by an entire university community," Al Barba, director of athletics communications and co-executive producer of the documentary, said.
"Led by the vision of former and current students, former president Betty Seigel, president Dan Papp, former Director of Athletics Dave Waples, current Director of Athletics Vaughn Williams and many others, that vision has become a reality.
"Through this documentary we will provide viewers with an inside look into all the decision-making and planning, while building the excitement level as Kennesaw State prepares for kickoff,
"The response to football at Kennesaw State has been overwhelming and that will come to life in this series as we document history." Barba said.
Steve Graham, eight-time Emmy-award winning producer of Pic2 Productions and renowned documentary producer has produced highly acclaimed films that include Vince Dooley's last season as head coach and the final game with University of Georgia's well known rival Notre Dame.
The second showing of "It's Our Time: The Building of Kennesaw State Football" is scheduled to run on Sunday, Dec. 29 at 2:30 p.m. (ET) with three additional airings to be shown in January with the dates and times to be determined.
